I have followed the suggestions in the other posts. I have uninstalled with Revo and reinstalled several times. The service is not listed when running serices.msg and I have tried to add it using the following command.
sc create AAWService binpath= c:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware\aawservice.exe displayname= "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service"
It just comes back with the "instructions" that it creates a service entry in the registry and service database.

Running Windows XP Home - sp3 using trend micro ( have also tried turning it off to install)

There seem to be a lot of people with this problem. Is there a software defect or is it a problem on my end.

Using the quotes seemed to work. Running adware scan now.
