Occasionally, if I right-click the Ad-Aware AE Icon in the system tray and click on update I get an error message. The error appears in Event Viewer as "Faulting application ad-awareadmin.exe version 8.0.0.0. faulting module ntdll.dll version 5.1.2600.3520 fault address 0x00018af2" and in the next entry "Fault Bucket 1229537962".

Can anyone tell me why this update function occasionally fails to work and if there is a problem that I can rectify?

I think update through the start menu is more reliable - they may have fixed the tray icon problem with the new 8.1 version. However, to update to 8.1, I would recommend removing AE first using revouninstaller.com, then download 8.1 and install fresh.
