I updated to 8.1 this morning and this afternoon I decided to run my first scan unattended while I caught up on some missing sleep.
I woke up a few hours later to find my screensaver (Electric Sheep) running with the taskbar over it and a dialog box inviting me to rejoin the ThreatWork Network.
I thought that was strange as I remembered AE didn't ask until after you took actions from your first scan.
I joined and it started sending a bunch of files with "warnings".
I then opened the minimized AA 8.1 and found that it had detected the usual round of harmless cookies, which I usually allow once because my default browser is Opera and when you remove one Opera cookie you loose them all. I do keep scanning cookies for more questionable ones, but would otherwise disable the scan setting for cookies.
The problem is with no interaction from me it went ahead and did all recommended actions (removal) without me telling it to. It also didn't ask to make a restore point first.
This could be a real problem for me as I do most of my security scans while I am sleeping or away from my PC. Can you give me an explanation as to why this happened? I live alone and have no pets so there was no nosey roommate or spouse, and kitty definitely was not on the keyboard.
My system is an ASUS M2N-E Mobo with an AMD 64X2 Dual Core CPU 4200
It is Running WinXP Pro SP3 32bit fully updated
Geforce 9500 GT OC Video Card connected to 2 monitors.
Opera 10 is my default browser, with Firefox 3.5 as a backup, and IE for updates.
