I have been using Ad-Aware free version, (7.1.0.12), for a long time and I thought it time to actually upgrade and pay for it. I downloaded the free AE as a test of the new interface and after installation I could no longer load ACT! 11. I am on a single machine and the SQL 7 server that ACT! 11 uses is on this same machine. The Windows event viewer says that the SQL service is not being allowed to load.

Using the Windows System Restore I simply went back to the restore point I set just prior to installing AE and everything is working again. But I would really like to be able to upgrade. My guess is that this is a firewall issue so I would like to know what I have to change in AE in order for it to let the SQL 7 server load.

There's a new version of Ad-Aware for 2010 coming out tomorrow. It might be better to try that first and post back here whether it works or not. After tomorrow, we'll need to start sorting out problems as users transition to the new product.
