While updating Ad Aware 2007 my internet connection was disrupted and my PC crashed. Since then when I start the PC I receive the error message about "An unhandled exception occured at 0x7C812AFB in aawservice.exe. with a window giving some details, and asking if I want to send a crash report. The 1st part of the report is listed below:

I've tried running Ad Aware but get a message saying "System error: 1810 has occurred. Description: Service is not online. Application terminates".

I've tried unistalling Ad Aware bit it won't let me as I get the error message "Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\WINDOWS\Installer\WISEDED53B ..... .MSI"

I'm also unable to reinstall as it says another installation is in progress.

Any help would be most welcome.

Useful free tools.

Might want to try Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (WICU) to clean up the botched installation. Then Revo Uninstaller to cleanup any Lavasoft Ad-Aware remnants since AE doesn't seem to install well over prior versions. Also, I find it best to stop all running processes before installing any software.

Many thanks - will give this ago.
