I updated the definitions file, then started a scan. On the interface, for the Definitions File, the info reads: not available. Is this correct? Thanks.

No this isn't correct.
To try to fix this, then try running a web update. If this fails then you'll need to delete the current definition file and redownload the latest one. I'll give you instructions on how to do this if the web update doesn't work.
