I needed to update my Lavasoft Ad-Aware program that I've had for a number of years. Due to total lack of paying attention I purchased ADWARE Professional 5.0. The program seemed to find a backdoor virus and that was good. However I'm starting to feel that it may be a rouge program and I bought the wrong thing. Is the program legit? Thanks.

Sounds like you got a fake. I can't say whether or not it's a legit program, but you definitely won't get Lavasoft support unless you purchase genuine Ad-Aware. This support forum exists for users of Ad-Aware Free.

In addition to what visitor has said; if you'd like upload a screenshot of the program and we'll be able to tell you straight away. If it is fake, then I suggest you contact them or your credit card company for a refund.

Thanks Visitor and Casey. Here is a screen shot of the program. I also have downloaded Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and it found the Win32 trojan which the other program did not.

Your screenshot doesn't seem to have uploaded - but since you have installed Ad-Aware AE you should be able to tell yourself that they are not the same and that the other is probably rogue software. I would uninstall the other and leave Ad-Aware.
