I have used Ad-Aware for many years. I recently purchased a new computer and I have tried downloading Ad-Aware AE. I have saved the download file to my hardrive. When I try and run the setup wizard, I keep getting the following error: "Cannot start setup - the setup file may be corrupt, or you may have the wrong password. If you downloaded this file, please download a fresh copy. If the file is password protected, check your password and try again."
I have Windows Vista Home premium 32-bit edition. I am running Norton Internet security but I disabled the firewall and the antivirus before downloading Ad-Aware. I have tried to download 3 times but keep getting the same response. Can you help?

Did you turn off all other programs while installing, or just during download? I always do this to avoid protection programs from hindering the installation.

Also note, a conflict between Norton and Ad-aware arose about a month ago. If you get Ad-Aware installed, in order to scan, you'll need to turn off Norton's Tamper Protection. This feature causes Ad-Aware to stall when it attempts to scan the Norton files.

Thanks. Yes I did turn off all other programs before installing. I have installed it now by not saving, just run directly from the download.

That's weird - some people have problems when executing the installer from the browser download cache instead of saving it first. Glad it worked. I'll close this thread now since you're good to go.
