I am running Ad-Aware free Anniversary edition (version 8.0.7) on windows vista and I was wondering is there a way to turn off / disable the boot sector scanner? The problem is it delays the boot up by as much as 2 minuets as it scans and there are times when I need to / want to skip the scan to have the system to start / restart as fast as possible for work projects. I have looked all through the settings and can not find any way to shut it off.

I do a full scan with Ad-Aware once every week and for me & my needs that is enough for what I do on my computer. so I do not need to run the boot sector scan every time I start my computer.

any help on this would be appreciated. thanks

You could disable Ad-Aware using the tray icon and just turn it back on when you want to scan/be protected by Ad-Watch. This should stop any scanning during boot up.

I think you're out of luck. I disabled Ad-Aware, making it on-demand only, but the aaw7boot.log still shows the boot cleaner working. However, startup was much faster so I don't think it's boot cleaner, rather it's Ad-Aware loading the 30mb definitions and initiating real-time protection.
