My son's PC is overloaded - CPU Usage is at 80/98% and the only application running is AdAware - I want to unload AdAware but it 'stalls' every time asking me if I have authority. I'm logged in as the Administrator, using Control Panel. I've just uninstalled a virus checker I've never heard of before and plan to install somethng else I'm familiar with and i want to remove AdAware first to make sure there are no conflicts.
This may well be an old version of AdAware - I assume it must have come with the PC which is an HP with Windows XP, Media Centre version, service pack 3
Error 1921 - Service could not be stopped - verify you have sufficient privileges to uninstall
If I close down the exe file via Task Manager, it disappears for a moment but then appears again.
i think the problem is that it can't shut down the program in order to uninstall.
If i try to uninstall via Start - all programs - lavasoft, i get the same result.
