I have been using Ad-Aware AE for several months. About 2 weeks ago it started giving me the following error message
"The procedure entry point ?_func@tr1std@@YAXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCP90.dll"
OK, seemed the easiest solution was to uninstall and reinstall Ad-Aware AE. I did so, but nothing changed: I still get that error message and Ad-Aware won't run. BTW, I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. Anyone got any suggestions?

I Googled this:

If you haven't accidentally deleted it or made changes to your system, I suspect you may be infected with malware, which often disables security programs. After reading the article, if you think the same, read the instructions in my signature about posting a log in the HijackThis forum. Copy/paste or link to this thread to describe the problem, and somebody there can help you with malware removal.

I guess that's a possibility but I think it's somewhat unlikely. I also have SpyBot Search & Destroy and Avast Anti Virus on my system, and both of these are running OK. Also, I did a system scan with Trend Micro Housecall and it didn't find any problems. One of the suggestions in the link you sent was to try Windows updates and I think I'll try that first. Also, as far as I can tell, Ad-Aware is the only program affected so, worst case, I guess I'll simply not try to use Ad-Aware.

I checked with an IT manager I know and he said he's had problems with these MSVC files with other programs. Seems that during regular updates Microsoft alters these files and sometime in ways that are not backward compatible. Only solution is to try to find the old file and swap it out. That's not something I'm comfortable doing, so I guess I'll just have to work without Ad-Aware. Hopefully Lavasoft will address this problem at some time in the future.
