Never had problems running previous versions, but after a scan with AE , I go to 100% CPU usage and cannot remove anything that was detected. I have re-installed and tried removing the core.aawdef file suggested in another response regarding CPU usage. I have plenty of memory. Would appreciate any suggestions.

I have plenty of memory.

How much is plenty? I have 1gb RAM and 25% CPU used when the GUI is displayed onscreen. Lavasoft is looking into the cause of this:

Hopefully they will have it solved with an update due out next month. I can't find the post about removing the core.aawdef file, can you post a link? That's the definition file, which Ad-aware needs when the program is loaded.

Hi,
I just purchased the anniversary edition: I have the same problem ! it scans, finds all sorts of malwares but won't clean them, with a CPU usage constantly up to 100%.
Does it mean that Lavasoft is selling a piece of software that it knows does not work and we have to wait for the next update ? I have 2 GB memory and a recent PC.
Very unpleasant.
More: the Adwatch part won't start, keeps being grey and inactive.
What to do then ?
Start regretting my spending and messing about in those forums where people like to get info to choose the proper software for malware chasing ?

Hi,

It sounds as though the malware might be preventing Ad-Aware from running correctly. I'd suggest reading the info in my signature and post a HJT log in the HJT forum for analysis.
