My pc became infected with spy-quake, and I believe I removed it. However, my IE browser homepage automatically goes to www.safetyhomepage.com when I launch it. My Internet Options still shows my original choice for my default homepage, yahoo.com, but it doesn't go there. How do I get rid of this annoying website homepage?
guitarman
I had a problem where my IE browser homepage changed without my permission to safetyhomepage.com. It occured after I went to a website that apparently installed a "smitfraud" virus that included something called "Spy-Quake" that generated a lot of pop-ups, telling me my computer was infected with spyware, asking me to purchase their spyware program. I found this link on the internet that helped me resolve my issues. Hope it helps you.

Hi guitarman,

I've split your post in someone else's topic into your own topic here.

We are essentially using a like tool as SmitRem called SmitfraudFix.

So, have you resolved the problem at this point?
guitarman
Yes, Calamity. I resolved it using the tool I got lucky and found elsewhere. Thanks for splitting my "solution" posting. Did the person I posted it for get his/her issue resolved with the help of my posting? Just curious. Thanks again.

Well, we had already given them SmitFraudFix which does essentially the same thing as SmitRem.

So it would be confusing to have them run the same fix again after the problem has already been solved smile.gif

@gail obrien, I moved your post to your own separate topic. As your PC and your issues may not be the same as someone else. You can follow it here:

I'm moving this to the "revolved section" (read only).

For any anyone with similar issues, please start your own new topic.

Thank you smile.gif
