Hi everyone,

The Win32.Trojandropper.Delf detection was a false positive and has been fixed in update 0149.0008 - please update Ad-Aware to get the latest definition file.

I had it show up and when I delected it, I got pop up messages that said that my document viewer could not be found and they kept popping up, slowing my computer down to a crawl and preventing me from even getting the internet. Finally had to have my anti-virus program help staff work on my computer to get it working again. Of course it cost $99.00 for the fix. How often can we expect these false positive's?

I don't think there's a way to predict the frequency of false positives. They're discovered and reported by users, then researched by the software company. The best thing you can do is not blindly delete suspicious files, rather place them in quarantine where they can be recovered if necessary.

In this case, if it was detected by Ad-Aware, it would have been better to research via Lavasoft rather than another antivirus software company. If you have AE Plus or Pro, you get official Lavasoft customer support (link in my signature). If you have AE Free, this forum is free support monitored by Lavasoft. There are many free forums like this one on the internet, so really the only time you should pay is if you need immediate, live phone support.

Please be aware also, when Ad-Aware "cleans" a detected file using the recommended option, it will put a copy in the Quarantine so that you can easily recover any falsely detected files. I've put up instructions on how to do that here:

How to Restore an Item from Quarantine
In case you deleted a file that was a false detection
