I gave up trying to upgrade from SE Pro for free - especially with all the Element 5 BS - and just bought a fresh license for AE Pro.
My question is: Do I need to uninstall SE Pro before installing AE Pro? I want to be absolutely sure that there is no interference from the old version with the new one.

Hello, Nancy:
Absolutely, I would completely uninstall the SE client, reboot the machine, and check for any remaining Lavasoft and/or Ad-Aware directories, before I attempted to install the AE client. I also migrated from SE to AE and short of other issues that people are reporting, specific to the AE client, I have not had any issues, relative to the upgrade, when I have migrated a number of machines from SE to AE.
Good luck!

I also did a clean uninstall of SE Pro before installing AE Pro, so no problems. Luckily, I kept version 8.0.3 and turned off auto-update before version 8.0.4 when it seems problems arose. My friend has no problems with AE Plus updates, but I fear I wouldn't be so lucky, LOL, so I just update the definitions manually.
