I have tried every thing that I can think of to uninstall Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition. I have used Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and deleted the program. I have deleted the Lavasoft folder from all locations on the hard drive. I have removed Lavasoft from Application Data folder.

I have searched for "Ad-Aware", & "Lavasoft" and have deleted any items that were found.

McAfee still says that I have Ad-Aware installed on my computer.

What steps am I missing?

The add/remove uninstaller is known to leave bits behind. Not sure if it deleted these, but in the Application Data folder, there's a hidden folder named something like {83C91755-2546-441D-AC40-9A6B4B860800}. Inside are a bunch of Ad-Aware files. You'll also have shortcuts in the Start Menu/Programs folders. It also may leave registry entries behind, but you should only mess with that if you're experienced or back it up just before you make changes.

The other option is to use programs like these useful free tools. Revo Uninstaller on the highest setting will remove all traces of Lavasoft/Ad-Aware.
