Full Version: Can't remove Ad-Aware from system tray

Hi

I prefer not to have the Ad-Aware icon loaded into my system tray as it is slowing down the Windows logon process. However i cannot seem to get rid of the icon at logon. I am running Windows XP. I have run msconfig and unticked AAWTray in the Startup tab, yet when i reboot, my system ignores the fact i've unticked it and continues to load it!! Also if i then remove it manually it reappears a few hours later.

Could you give me instructions to permanently remove the icon from system tray so i can just run Ad-Aware at my own convenience from a desktop shortcut

Many thanks ...

To hide the tray icon only, go to Settings - Appearance - General - check Hide taskbar icon

To turn off all real-time protection, go to Settings - Ad-Watch Live! - General - uncheck all 3 modules.

Thank you visitor, your second suggestion was the option I was looking for.
