In addition, we continue to strongly recommend that all computer users secure their PCs with adequate protection – including anti-spyware, anti-virus and a firewall. Customers in need of an anti-virus defense from Lavasoft will find it through the Plus and Pro versions of Ad-Aware; these products feature advanced anti-virus and anti-spyware for full protection against malware and other online threats.

Hm, but why? I understand, Avira rebranded version is not the best solution, you must have more individualised product. I like this AV, and I'm you customer. Maybe problems with Avira?

This product is only being discontinued for new purchases. Your license will be supported with updates and full customer support through the end of the license duration. At that time you may want to look at the extended protection of antivirus included in our Ad-Aware Plus (or Pro).

There was no problem with Avira - it is simply that there wasn't enough demand for a stand-alone Lavasoft antivirus product. More people were interested in a fully integrated AV in our Ad-Aware program.

So, Lavasoft is stating that Ad-Aware Annv Edition has full and totally dependable anti-virus capabilites? When I bought the latest Anniversary Edition, nothing in the promo or manual touted it's anti-virus abbilities. I found the a.v. engine on my own under the settings but was unsure how reliable it was.

I have both, Helix and A.W. Is it completely safe to simply uninstall Helix and go with Ad-Aware only? And most importantly, does Lavasoft recomend the Ad-Aware Anvrsy Ed. as a stand alone product for safety?
