I don't use forums much, so I'am not really good at this.

I own Ad-Aware Pro, version 7.1.0.12 I have 116 days left on the subscription? My current Definition file is dated 4/20/2009. I have a licensed install of Windows XP Pro.

I am not able to update Ad-Aware Pro. I start the Ad-Aware Pro and the following happens;

I get a message;
Updating Definitions File
Adaware 7.1.0.12
This takes about 2 minutes

I get a second message;
There are new software updates available. Do you want to to to the download center? I select Yes

I get the third message
Lavasoft Udate Manager 7.1.0.2
Getting Updates
Then two minutes later I get the message:
Server Connection Failed
Installation Finished.

I have tried this for 3 days and am getting the same message. Yes I have internet connection. Yes I have been able to update my definition files for the past 8 months without problems. Still the above does not update my files.

During the process I am given a chance to upgrade (for FREE) to Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition.
Is this a requirement?
Is the upgrade free??
Is this required even though I have 4 months left on my original purchase?

Do I get support for being a paid customer to "Pro?" or do I use the regular support forum.

I'm confused and frustrated. I just want my pc to run better. Can you help?

Ad-Aware 2008 is still supported, so there is no requirement to upgrade. Paid license users can contact Lavasoft support. However, I'm not sure you'll see results faster. Several people here have had the same problem and it has been reported to Lavasoft so they can investigate. They're also working on problems with Anniversary Edition, so I wouldn't upgrade yet.

Matters seem to be improving for AAW2008 updating.

There are various AAW 2008 threads on this matter, most of which seem to be reporting that updating problems are over - that said, please log into the Support Center for one-on-one assistance if your problems updating continue (please also keep an eye on the threads in this forum for possible work-arounds).
