I have tried all previous fixes and workarounds and still have the issue. Hope someone can help me!!!

OS: XP ver 2002
Service Pack 3
Ad-Aware ver 8.0.0
norton av 2006 protection

i do not see an "update.log" file, however there are many others in the folder???


what do I do?

I have made you your own topic since I do not believe your problem is related to the bug, since you are running version 8.0.0

Please check that you can update norton and run a scan with it. Also please check that you can access such sites as Microsoft Updates and security websites.

I previously had free version, so I figured upgrading would be the best solution to a particular virus that I have. (Google Redirect, I think) I paid for the PLUS version yesterday from Lavasoft site and downloaded, so not sure why the 8.0.0 is not the most current version?

I have and can update Norton and have current definitions. I have run scans as well. I can find Symantec sites, Lavasoft, etc. It is very frustrating sifting through forums, etc. and not finding fixes to software that should be current. These kind of things make me want to buy a gun!!! smile.gif

Well the most up-to-date version is 8.0.4 - however, froma fresh install you will get 8.0.0 which should then update.

Since you have the plus version I would recommend sending an email to the support team and get them to help you out. Normally, we've only seen the update issues in 8.0.4 (or sometimes 8.0.3)
