Help!!! For reasons that are unknown to me, I cannot update the definition file using web update so I tried to do it manually by downloading the file from here: http://download.lavasoft.com/public/core.zip. I then pasted the core.aawdef to this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007. But when I try to run my 2007 Ad-Aware, all I get is this error message:

aawservice.exe has unfortunately experienced an unhandled exception and was forced to close....

An unhandled exception occured at 0x7C812AEB in aawservice.exe

Exception Code : 0xe06d7363
Client version : 0.669
Attached Debugger : 0

I already tried suggestions like disabling / twaeking firewall exceptions, etc. and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Uninstall 2007 and install AE (or at least 2008).

This should solve the problem and 2007 is unsupported now anyway. Read here if you have problems uninstalling: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=22364

i've tried using 2008 but the version freezes in the middle of a scan. AE isn't that much better either. On many occasions, the clean-up process keeps failing. So far (in my humble opinion), 2007 seems to work best for me. The only thing is, I can't seem to update the definitions list. Shame.
