What is LavaSoft's plan to remove the "Personal Antivirus" adware or virus. I am really getting annoyed with this problem. Is it currently included in the definitions?

Thanks,

DMelin

Hello,
I did a search for "Personal Antivirus" and this is the only reference that came up.

This was in the RESOLVED section without a reply of any kind that I could see...

FYI, after about a month, dead topics are moved to resolved/INACTIVE to keep the board clean - so I pulled up the old topic and merged it with yours.

I wouldn't wait for Lavasoft - with any kind of infection it's better to be proactive. Read the instructions in my signature about posting a log in the HijackThis forum. Copy/paste or link to this thread to describe the problem, and somebody there can help you with malware removal.

FYI Submitting Files To Lavasoft Research.

But, yes, definitely do as visitor says!

The First part of this post is NOT Directed at you, Please, Read on past that....

One of our Clients had asked this question. I figured I would find the answer for them.

Thus, I posted it in the Support Forum for AE. Which they have been trying out ....

I have always advised our Clients to use the LavaSoft Products. They have Never Failed us or myself before!

I submitted the original post a few days ago, Just knowing that I would have an answer. Especially seeing the age of the 1st post in this thread from Dmelin on Apr 29 2009, 07:26 PM (3 months)

The Answer could have been a simple "Yes" or "No" or even a "I do not know" from Lavasoft.

I Do Thank the two of You for at least a response. You took the time. smile.gif

Seems like LavaSoft would take the time to monitor the support forums, My people do...

FYI: Since the post I have had one of our techs set up a test system with the latest updates.

The results: It did not catch it. From the date of the original post, there has been ample time.

I guess I will Re-Think the advice of using the LavaSoft Product line...

Thank you again (Visitor & Casey_boy) for your responses!!! biggrin.gif

Thank you Fugawe. I hope you do follow visitor's advice though and post a HJT log in the HJT forum for someone to help clean your clients computer and then ask if you may upload the file for Lavasoft to analyse.

Almost 6 months later on this thread, and Personal Antivirus is a widespread problem.
I use Adaware and another program, neither of which have been able to eradicate the problem. Are there any answers yet? Is this something that LS is working on?
(I'm trying to avoid paying for yet another program.)
Thanks,
A

I'm sure Lavasoft would add this to their definitions if somebody would submit it to be analyzed. No matter how much time passes or how widespread it seems to be, they're going to work on whatever lands in their laps first. There may be plenty of requests to help with removal, but apparently people are moving on once their systems are clean and not making an effort to upload it.
