Why is it that I am receiving emails of posts to the AdAware forum which are posted by others, but not receiving posts to the thead I started? The instant example is my post "cannot stop autostart" by milesch where I have not received any msgs from the 3 replies; however in the meantime have received posts by others in the same forum, but different threads.

In my control panel checked are hide my email address from other members, send msgs from the board administrator, and enable email notification by default - immediate. I have just unchecked msgs from board admin. to see if that will make a difference. (And in the bottom of the post msgs window - such as this one - "enable email notification of replies" is checked.

It sounds as if you have subscribed to an entire forum rather than just the topic you started?

To check this under My Controls, in the left hand menu look under the subtitle: Subscriptions

It will show you Subscriptions by topic and also subscriptions by forum.

If you see any under the "Forums" subscription, that may be why you are receiving email notices from other peoples topic's. You can simply put a checkmark next to any forum subscriptions if any are listed and choose "unsubscribe" at the bottom from the drop down menu of options.

I think you got it. Thank you! Yes, I was subscribed to a few forums as well as topics. Don't know how that came about, but as you suggest, presumably I managed to click in the wrong place. Now, the only item I'm subscribed to is this thread, so guess I need to find the old one of another subject and "re-subscribe." (Here in this field I've checked "enable email notification of replies" expecting it to mean this thread only, not the entire forum. So will again verify subscriptions after posting this.)

It's a common error, so you are not alone. When viewing a topic you will see *Options* in the top right corner. If you want to subscribe to a topic be sure to choose the "Track this Topic" and not the "Subscribe to Forum"

To find your old topics, just hover your mouse over your username here and you will see a drop down menu - choose *view member topics* and that will give you a list of all you have started. Then when you click on the topic you want to re-suscribe to, you can just use the options to *track topic* as shown above.

In the control panel the option to receive replies will generate an email notice of replies to topics that you have started or replied in.

Enable 'Email Notification' by default?
If ticked, choose default type:
Enabling this option will automatically subscribe you to any topic you start or reply to.

I hope this makes sense as there are several ways to get notices of replies to your topics (but if you deleted them you'll need to resubscribe)

That's exactly as I did today and hopefully it will be OK. Hey, Jane, you're no Calamity! However, perhaps a tomboy as the original purportedly was.
