I also installed the 2009 Anniversary Edition a few days ago. I have the icon on my desk top, program components seem to be there but the program doesn't launch. Like others have reported, when I click on the icon the banner appears for a while then disappears. Unlike the others, I do not have any previous editions of Ad Aware installed.

I am running Windows XP Professional with McAfee Security Center, Virus Scan, Personal Firewall, Site Advisor, Anti-Spam & Parental Controls. After reading the posts here, I suspect the McAfee programs may conflict with this freeware. I was seeking a program to check for spyware since I suspect something is affecting my internet experience. It's tough to find time for trouble shooting this, but what would it take to be able to at least run a scan with the program?

locate the Lavasoft folder in programs/program files, open it,
open the AAW folder
hit the 'Ad-Aware.exe' - doesn't work ? -- disable your connection then disable McAffee and try again
still no success - let's search for an infection...
Install 'HijackThis'*(Diagnostic tool), run a scan and copy paste the log in your next reply.
