I installed the anniversary edition on a Dell laptop running windows 2000 and it worked great for 3 days but now when the program tries to open a window opens that tells me Ad-Aware.exe-Unable to locate DLL. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no luck. Does anyone know of a remedy?

Hi,

Ad-Aware only works correctly on Windows 2000 SP4 Update Rollup 1. Do you have this installed?

Thanks for your suggestion, but it is installed. The Ad-Adware worked fine for 3 days and then I got this error and it will not load the program.

Hi, can you please tell us exactly which DLL you are missing.

Thanks.

The message then states the following: The dynamic link library MSVCP90.dll could not be found in the specific path C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Adware;C:\WINNT\system32;C\Winnt\system and on and on

The program worked for at least 3 days after installation and then stopped and gave the error above. I then uinstalled and downloaded again, but still get the same error.

Thanks, Everett

It looks like an error with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable.

Please try downloading and installing this (you may be prompted to uninstall it first, that's ok - go ahead and do that) - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...99-220b62a191ee

If that still doesn't work please try the newer service pack - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...4d-389c36f85647

Hope that helps,

I have had this error a few times. I uninstalled the program, cleaned the registry and re-installed the program. This has worked for me. I don't know why Ad-Aware does not find the DLL file as I specificall checked to ensure it was located in the proper areas. It was.
