Yesterday I spent over 4 hours running a shred on the free space on my C drive. Today I have run my copy of a file recovery program which found 8205 file names. Of these I checked JPG images as they are proably the easiest to verify and found that of 1919 file names found, 17 shwed up as in excellent condition to recover and i was able to view them either partially of in full.
These files were not locked by any programs so can anyone tell me why these were not shredded, why over 100 other file types also showed as being in excellent condition to recover and why in fact I can see the file names of these supposedly shredded files anyway ???
