I have the 2008 version which was installed last year and, until a month or two back, was working fine. Since then I've installed SP1 (sorry, Intel Quad 9550? CPU Dell XPS 420, four Gig RAM, Tetrabye Secure RAID drives) and it, along with System stability when to Heck in a handbasket.

AA2008 will not load (1814 has occurred. Description: Could not login to service. Are you running this applcation as another user? Application terminates. Neeless to say I'm not running the program while trying to load it and as the only person on the computer there's no other user. The problem duplicates even after rebooting the computer.

When I try to uninstall (using the uninstall utility in the program folder) I get the following message while the program is in the 'Please wait while Windows configures Ad-Aware 2008): Error 1921. Service "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service' (aawservice) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient provledges to stop system services.

I have simular results when downloading the Anniversary Edition or when trying to use 'add/remove software' inside Vista's control panel.

I am VERY concerned about this situation and as the only user on the computer I'm supposed to be the Administrator.. it doesn't even ask me any more when it boots (as I cross my fingers and pray it won't crash on booting as it does so often.. SP1 seems to be the cause of that & of the computer's MAJOR issues and crashing during operation when a USB or Firewire external drive is connected & running).
