Hi,

I use XnView with the Shell Extension option (http://www.xnview.com/en/downloadwin32.html) to view images. When the option "Add Ad-Aware to Windows right-click menu" is enabled under the Scanning preferences, and I right click on an image, the text of the context menu shifts to the right edge of the image. This doesn't happen with any other shell extensions.

Thanks.

I'm unable to reproduce this,

What operating system do you have?
What version of ad-aware do you have?
Does this occur on all types of images?

What did you install first, Ad-Aware or xnview, (if it's an issue where shell-extensions have incompatibility in a certain order.)

It looks like this when I try to reproduce it, which looks ok.

Hi,

I'm using Windows XP Media Center, SP3.
I'm using the Anniversary Edition of Ad-Aware, v 8.0.3.
It happens with JPGs, GIFs, and PNGs. I haven't tried any others.

I've had XnView installed for some time, and just recently installed Ad-Aware (no previous version installed).

Thanks.

Alright, do you also have the latest version of xnview, since that was the one I tried to reproduce your bug with, if not which version?

Hi Sebastian,

Just to let you know I reported on March 6th (LINK) the same problem that Danm has reported in post #1 above. His attachment is nearly identical to what I was seeing, but I am using PicaView and it shows up in FileFinder (not in Explorer, at least not here).

Later it was reported that Explorer was crashing (LINK), to which I suggested disabling "Add Ad-Aware to Windows right-click menu" and that apparently fixed the problem for both Marcel69 and FrNigel, as well as my own. I just test it again, and the problem still exists with the updated AE ShellExt.dll (82,272 bytes).

I do have the latest version of xnview, but I had version 2.1 of the shell extension. After removing it and reinstalling with 2.6, I'm not seeing the problem. Perhaps the order of install matters or there's a conflict between these two particular extensions?

I should try it with PicaView too, since I have a licensed copy of that on another computer.

Thanks.

Hi,
The most likely cause is thirdparty incompatibility, I haven't tested with picaview though, but I can't find a reliable source for it.

For those who experience crashes, what third-party shell-extensions do they use?

I tried installing them in different order and there was no difference.
