in reiteration to the march 11th post about the "11 hour scan", I would like to add my 18 hour scan for almost 200,000 files with Lavasoft definition file: 146.22 Extended engine definition file: 8.1 (146.0022 listed in the Main Status window). My first time running AE (3/15/2009) and updated before I started the scan. Today (3/16/2009) Web Update status is "OK", but Update Manager or Web Update status doesnt' tell me if I need or don't need an update. I can wait for the next def file to see if that helps.

My sincerest appologies if this topic should stay closed

I just ran another scan (2nd scan) which only took 1 hour and 1 minute which is 18 hours less then the first time... very weird.

Hi biggrin.gif
first...
the first scan is the longest

next...
make sure that you run the scan NOT in 'background mode '**

** = if you open AE and start a scan , you can minimize the GUI, but don't click the red
button in the upper right : this will switch the scan to background mode ( AE will use only idle
resources and you'll have a very long scan )
