Shutting down Spy Sweeper from the Notification Area of the Taskbar allowed Ad-Aware SE Personal to complete its scan without freezing.

I hope Lavasoft can resolve issues with Webroot regarding this issue.

Thank you...

Please excuse my ignorance, but since Spysweeper is not on my taskbar, do I need to uninstall it to run Adaware and then re-install it as the Adaware admin. folks suggest on their page?

Never had the problem until I updated Spysweeper recently.

Other ideas?

Many thanks!

You don't have to uninstall Spy Sweeper - you just turn it off so Ad-Aware can run. Then you turn it back on.

The problem only relates to the latest up-date from Spysweeper. Webroot is working on a fix for that program, and should release a fix soon. smile.gif

This should work for everyone currently having the problem of Ad-Aware freezing/hanging up due to a conflict with the new, updated version of Spy Sweeper (5.0.5.1286):

After right-clicking on SpySweeper icon in notification tray, click on 'Shields ' , then the'Windows System' Tab , under 'Critical Shields' UNCHECK 'Memory Shield' AND 'Spy Installation Shield' ....Ad-Aware Scan should now run...WITHOUT having to disable SpySweeper (the other 11 shields are still functional!). Once Ad-Aware scan has finished simply RECHECK the boxes and close the window .
