Full Version: Unhandled Excepti0n

I have just installed the Free Anniversary Edition and during the process I received the following on-screen message in a large box with the option of sending details to Lavasoft which I did, but without a response.
The message was:"Unhandled Exception, aawservice has experienced an unhandled exception and was forced to close. Exception at Ox7C812AEB: Exception Code oxe06d7363" Although I have sent this report twice and closed it many times it persists on the screen after every boot up.
Also at each boot up Adwatch reports a very malicious item and performs an automatic scan which invariably then reports no suspicious items found. Although the first error message implies that the program is closeing it seems to continue to run normally when opened again. Help in removing the error message would be appreciated.

Hi biggrin.gif
is a previous version of AAW still installed ?
Also I need more specific information about your system and the installed security software.
Last but not least...
install 'HijackThis'*, run a scan and copy/paste the log in your next reply.

Hi

I am most impressed with the very rapid response to my query. I have tried to follow your instructions but at 80yrs might have missed something.
I had been using Adaware 2007 for some time and assumed that it was removed by the new installation. However I now find a folder for it still exists in my Program folder but it does not asppear in my Add\Remive list. Also it will not run when I try the exe file but the error message I referred to pops up!! Can I just delete the folder?
I have AVG , Defender,and Spybot installed.
I have downloaded Hijackthis and am pasting the log below, it appears to be very long but I have not touched anything in it.

Hi,

It seems as though your installation of ad-aware 2007 was not successfully removed, since the 2007 service is still running.

Run HijackThis.
Click on Open the Misc Tools Section.
Click on "Open Process Manager"
Find and Click on Ad-Aware 2007 Service (aawservice) - Lavasoft - C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe
Click on "Kill Process" button, then click Yes.
More information with a screenshot, can be found here.

The please delete the folder C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007

See if AE will open successfully after this. If not, a reboot may be needed or a reinstall of AE may also be needed.

Hi again biggrin.gif
plz install the newest 'HijackThis'* ( use the link in my sign.)
and post a fresh log.
If it's done I'll prepare your thread for analysis.
Ciao wink.gif

Hi to both responders.

I have just followed Casey boy's instruction and deleted the reference to Adaware 2007 in the Hijackthis list followed by deletion of the Adaware 2007 folder in my Program Folder. A reboot ran normally without the long start-up delay with no sign of the annoying error message. Also Adaware AE has not been affected and opens normally. I presume I can now open AdWatch which I had switched off
Many thanks for your assistance, there are some clever people around out there!

No problems, yes try loading Ad-Watch smile.gif (we'll hold fire on posting for HJT again)
