Full Version: Startup only moves clock, no files scanned?

Hello. Since updating to Anniversary edition, when i start AdAware, in any mode, the scan clock starts, but nothing else happens. The objects scanned
counter does not increment, nothing is shown on current object scanned, the system CPU quickly moves to 100% utilization, and the program 'does not respond' when clicked on. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing. Other than Windows Messenger, nothing else is running when the program begins. My local tech support has no idea. It USED to work, but the Anniversary update so far is not working at all.
Suggestions? I would prefer if possible an email to my address, don't know how often I will be checking here.
Appreciations!

Hi biggrin.gif
plz provide a little bit more info about your OS/your security software and what kind of AE licence is installed.
Make sure that the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) allows AAW service.

Running Win XP, and Symantec AV.
Using the anniversary free edition, or trying to.

No idea what you are talking about re DEP? The previous AAW version worked fine, if that means anything.

DEP >> look here
Disable Symantec then try it again.
Still no success ?
-install Revo Uninstaller*
-create a system restore point
-delete AE with Revo in the highest mode
-install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility*
-run Wicu and delete all AAW references
REBOOT
Start a fresh DL and inst. of AE wit disabled security software.
Let me know how it works.

Altered the DEP. No effect.
Disabled Symantec, did fresh DL, same problem.

At this point, after i boot, i start AAW first, still locks up, sends the CPU to 100%, then becomes unresponsive when running alone.
After redeleting it with adaware's own uninstall, i had great difficulty even getting the computer to boot, had to hard stop.
This is doing too much damage to my machine, and my nerves. I should probably do what my friends advise, wait 6 months for
AAW to get the biggest bugs out of the software and try again. In the meantime i will use Spybot, which works fine, and avoid AAW.
Thanks for your help and time, sorry it didn't work out.
