These entries seem to indicate that updates have been done.
BUT these updates were started manually, they were NOT done AUTOMATICALLY (scheduled, maybe at boot up).

Since posting the Update.log file I have NOT manually updated Ad-Aware but the current Update.log file shows an update dated 09/09/2009.
I have since discovered that Windows Scheduler has an entry created by installing this version of Ad-Aware which is set to run ONCE A WEEK which explains the above update and why I had not seen an AUTOMATIC update before.

There is no mention of this in any Ad-Aware help/manuals that I have been able to find.
The program interface does not give an opportunity to set when or how often an AUTOMATIC update should be run.
As the manual updates I carried out seemed to change the database version number each time I ran them it would appear that running an AUTOMATIC update on a weekly basis is not sufficient !

The new version of Ad_Aware seems to work OK BUT the documentation is lacking in some areas !!!!

You should notice that there are two scheduled updaters?

One is named Ad-Aware Update (Daily) - which is the definition updates and the other is named AdAwareUpdate Weekly software update?

Hi casey,
Thanks for your reply.
There is only one scheduled task in my Windows Scheduler as follows:

Ad-Aware Update (Weekly)
This runs "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Ad-AwareAdmin.exe" update all silent
It is set to run once a week on a Monday evening.
I have tried amending it to run on a daily basis but Ad-Aware changes it back each time the pc reboots.

If there should be two tasks (Weekly) & (Daily) what should they each run ?

How do I stop Ad-Aware changing the settings ?

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I will try and find more information - see what the other VMs have.

@c_b biggrin.gif
plz have a look to my post 'Update log/Scan log' in VML.
You'll see that ONLY the 'Button' related Update processes show a readable log.
And I also cannot find an 'Update scheduler' blush.gif

I hope Lovesoft will answer soon.

After further investigation I have found the following.

When installed AE free creates a job in Windows Scheduler called 'Ad-Aware Update (Weekly)' which runs once a week.
There is no daily update created.
I created a job to do the update daily called 'Ad-Aware Update (Daily)' which ran the same program, with the same parameters as the weekly job.
This worked when I tested it, ie I forced it to run.
When I rebooted my PC this job had vanished !!.
I tried this several times but the job always vanished.
I then tried naming the job 'Ad-AwareUpdate (Daily)', notice the difference, no space between Aware and Update.
This job works and does not vanish on reboot. Naming the job anything that does not contain 'Ad-Aware Update' works.

This appears to indicate that Lavasoft are 'doing something' when AE free starts up ie deleting any job in Windows Scheduler which contains the words 'Ad-Aware Update' other than the one with (Weekly) in its name.
This may not be the correct explanation for the vanishing jobs but its very suspicious.

Raziel. the link in your post in 'plz have a look to my post 'Update log/Scan log' in VML.' does not work.
Regards
John.
