It seems with each edition, the likelihood of a complete scan decreases. About 40% of the time Adaware 2008 would complete a scan first time...then if I immediately ran it again, about 70% of the time it would compete. With AE which I've had for a month or so, it hasn't make it past 2540 records.
Is there any secrete? Ok, I can't complain with free...but it's just not worth the aggravation. On the other side, I wonder why Lavasoft continues to put this out with all the problems I've seen with the program (aggravation on both sides).
I'm on a Dell 4550 Dimension, w XP about 1Gig, I run it with most programs shut down and I'm not using the computer.

Hi,
Are you running any other security software?
Where in the scan does it freeze? (what is it scanning?)

On my computer is ZoneAlarm, Avast - I've shut both down, all other programs, disconnected from the internet, shut down everything in icon tray and still have never completed a scan with AE

Excellent question. See the attached screen shot. Almost more frustrating that the inability to complete a search is (in a very Microsoftesque way) having the apparent problem file/path not shown completely - its too long for the screen, which is not resizeable. Now, I can mouse-over the AdAware icon in my tool tray and it provides a bit more info on the file/path, but even that's abbreviated (has something to do with VBA6.dll).
