It appears both Ad-Aware AE and 2008 throw a FP on Spybot Search and Destroy (v1.6.0.31) with the 146.0005 definitions. Neither did with 146.0004. AE scan log attached.

Hi Tronald!

We will investigate this issue further and if it´s a false positive we will remove the object from detection as of the next definition file update.

The current version of "Spybot-Search & Destroy", 1.6.2.46, is available for download at:
h**p://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html.
Files associated to this, the current, version of Spybot-Search & Destroy are not detected by Ad-Aware.

It should however be noted that Spybot warns about compability issues when used in conjunction with Ad-Aware, h**p://www.safer-networking.org/en/compatibility/adaware.html

Spybot also warns about compability issues with Ad-Aware at startup, stating that "Spybot - Search Destroy has detected that you have the following products installed. This may cause incompatibilities...".

Thanks LS Pekka

A note on the Spybot S & D version info I provided: the v1.6.0.31 is what shows up in the gui help:about. It also matches the file version of SpybotSD.exe.

The file Ad-Aware is catching is SDHelper.dll and has a file version is 1.6.2.14.

While v1.6.2 is the latest available for download, PepiMK in his 27 Jan 2009 announcement indicated v1.6.2 had not yet been released to the integrated updater, but should be soon. As I have been using the integrated updater, I don't know what version of SDHelper.dll you got in the v1.6.2 download.

I have been using both Ad-Aware and Spybot S & D together for a number of years (great products!) and compatibility has not been an issue for me. I am using the ignore list as a workaround for the time being.

I have observed exactly same thing as Tronald.... also a user of Spybot and Lavasoft together for at least last 2 years (with 2008 and prior editions of your product). Since I did little to acquire a virus in last 24 hrs, and scan daily overnight... I also think this is a false positive.
