Using Ad-Aware AE (Anniversary Edition). I run a full scan on my C drive. When I'm done I successfully remove any found problems. I go back to Main Status screen and Scan System shows Status with todays date. The next day I start the computer and look at Scan System Status and is shows "(Not yet performed)". Darn thing has a memory as bad as mine. Does anyone else have the happen with the Anniversary Edition?

Yes, same here, in fact I was going to post this after I got my previous posts resolved. Regards.

Jim, I had similar occurence. Scan yesterday found a Trojan & 30 cookies, which I had it remove. After hard reboot today, AA/AE auto-updated to 0146.0004 & was fine, but the "Statistics" cubbard was bare - no cookies & Trojan listed after removal yesterday. In addition, Ad-WatchLive! added "infocard.exe (inform)" in the Registry section.

Found "infocard.exe" in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft .NET\Framework\v.3.0\Windows Communication Foundation. Ck'd Add/Remove & found 3 versions: 1.1 (w/hotfix), 2.0 (w/security update) & 3.0. I don't use MS's card option. Know any reason not to remove these? unsure.gif

Thanks for the replies. I see I'm not the only one with this problem.
I forgot to mention a couple of things: My PC is running Windows XP Home Edition; I'm also running Norton Internet Security 2008. I am using the free edition of AA AE. I see that I also have C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v1.03705 & v1.14322. I don't know that this has anything to do with this problem, but since it was mentioned I looked to see if I had it. I remember loading the ".NET" junk during a Microsoft update process for non critical updates. This problem is occurring on my home computer, but not my work computer. The work computer is running Windows XP professional and Norton’s Anti virus. I am thinking about copying the application .exe file from my work computer and installing it on my home computer (after I un-install the current AA AE on my home computer.)

Jim, did you uninstall AA/AE & install WinXP Pro at home? Anything go wrong? wacko.gif

At this point, AA/AE is operating ok, but full scans pick up that same list of bad cookies + a few more. Webroot AV full scans haven't found anything, but doesn't quarantine those cookies as it should (email CS, got auto reply). Webroot firewall shows its been blocking around 170,000/day, which is ~ 160,000 more than normal, since upgrading to Plus & aawservice 'grabbed' my computer daily.

I'll see if Panda & TrendMicro online scans find anymore malware... ninja.gif

Hi JimC:

I had exactly the same problem with my AdAware AE. Eventually I tried booting my computer in "Safe Mode wth Networking" I did a scan, verified that the scan information was displaying then shut down and again rebooted in "Safe Mode with Networking" ..... the "Last Scan and Scan Mode" remained intact.

From there it was a matter of discovering what other program that was loaded at startup was interfering with AdAware AE.

I found it was my "Spybot Search and Destroy" I disabled it from loading at startup and cancelled use of "Tea Timer and SDHelper". Now my AdAware runs faster and the "Last Scan" information remains intact. I can still run scans with Spybot Search and Detroy .... I just have to start it.

The gain in scanning speed is significant ..... A Full Scan in 44 min instead of 1hr 35 min 8 sec and a Smart Scan in 7 min instead of 1hr 13 min 31 sec. Using the computer during scanning slows down the scan considerably.
