No matter how many times I use the AdAware Free Anniversary Edition to remove the cookies it finds during the previous scan, those same cookies show up after a subsequent scan even though the software indicates that the removal process was successful. What gives?
wacowayne
I have the same issue , the new version does noy remove cookies . It just finds them .
Is there anything being done to fix this ?
casey_boy
what cookies aren't being removed and what browsers are you using?

Also make sure your browser is closed when you try to delete the cookies.

I've now run into the same problem with and without Internet Explorer Version: 7.0.5730.11 running.

Here's my system info:

Windows XP 5.1.2600 SP3 Build 2600

It's the case of the 'stickey cookies';-) Whadayathink?

Thanks,

Doug

P.S.- I've used both the 'recommended' and the 'remove all' settings

Oh really?! huh.gif Then it would be good to check this box indicated....??
(You'll notice that I unchecked skipping large files.)
casey_boy
yes DDon that would be a good move smile.gif

Doug, that's a lot of cookies being missed out! Try deleting them through your browser. I know this is not ideal but it appears ad-aware ae is having trouble with cookies at the moment.

I'm a new user and have this problem also with persistent cookies
Here is what I get ever time I go on line. I delete them in Lavasoft Anniversary free addition but they come right back the next time I go online.

Will try your suggestion here and see what happens in the next few days.

I am now having the same problem with cookies.

The anniversary edition has detected the 'Tacoda' one other
members have mentioned above so I had it removed.

Now every time I scan with internet closed or open the same cookie appears.
Clearly it does not exist as my Spybot programme does not detect it.

Sorry but I have lost confidence in this new version and have reverted
to 2008 edition until Lavasoft iron out all the apparent bugs in the new
version.

Perhaps they will put a post on this forum when all is sorted.
I'll be watching.

I'm using Ad-Aware-AE and noticed behavior similar to what's already been reported in this thread: I'd run a scan and Ad-Aware would delete some cookies. I'd immediately scan again and Ad-Aware would find what appeared to be the same cookie still present.

Looking into the matter, I found that Ad-Aware was detecting a cookie it called *2o7*. Searching my hard drive, I found that there were multiple cookies named

xxxxx@2o7[6].txt

xxxxx@2o7[7].txt

xxxxx@2o7[8].txt

and so on. Each time I ran a scan, Ad-Aware deleted only one of the similarly named cookies. This might not be what's affecting the others who posted in this thread, but it seems to point out a problem with Ad-Aware.

Can anyone else duplicate this observation?

Same problem here.... all updates installed, perform a quickscan, Firefox and IE are both closed down (no processes running) Scan finds a few cookies, one to a few of them it fails to remove. It says action performed succesfully but rerunning scan simply shows the same cookie present (can do this loop numerous times). Opening Firefox and clearing Privacy (cookies) and then rescanning with Addware, log comes up clean.

Any suggestions? Is this a known issue?

Thanks,

Kheldan

I have reported the cookie issues with ad-aware, but as of yet there is no official word about the status.

Hopefully, it will be looked into. In the mean time, you can always delete the cookies through your browser.

Have always deleted cookies in my browser.

Problem only came to light when I forgot once and
Ad-Aware did its job and detected them.

Incidentally how well are Lavasoft progressing in ridding
the Anniversary Edition of all the bugs it has? I am waiting
eagerly before I update again to this new version.
