Hi Raziel,

Thank You for your help but i have now solved the problem as to WHY i was getting that Error. i solved the problem just by chance, just by accident.

i intentionally don't use flat screen monitors because flat screen monitors run at very high resolutions, and in my opinion, in my STUDIED opinion, they cause your eyesight to go bad and you'll need to start wearing glasses. additionally, in my opinion, in my STUDIED opinion, your eyesight will just continue to get worse & worse using flat screen monitors. there are MORE children in the United States today at such a young age needing to wear glasses than we have ever, ever had in our country. there is a cause for that effect.

therefore, i ONLY use CRT monitors and i intentionally keep my screen resolution set to 640x480. sometimes a menu is so long in Windows or a program i'm using that i have to momentarily set my screen resolution to say 800x600, for example, just so i can click on the "Apply" or ''Ok'' button on a menu. i needed to do this very thing after i posted here today, so while my screen resolution was set to 800x600, and i don't know what possessed me to do so, but i tried running Ad-Aware and it worked! so the problem was/is that Ad-Aware can't run at the screen resolution of 640x480.

Just to correct a few points.

Flat screen monitors themselves are actually better for your eyes than traditional CRTs because of the screen curvature. (Note you can get flat screen CRTs to correct this problem).

However your comments about screen resolution may be true. I'm not sure to be honest.

The fact is virtually noone runs at those low screen reses any more and making the GUI usable at them would require effort. I think it's unlikely they'll fix this.

(An access violation error is caused when a programme tries to execute from a data area of the memory. Often this can be triggered by DEP in Windows. In you case, if this really was caused by screenres, I'd hypothesise that you have shared graphics memory on your system and as the screen res changes memory used by graphics changes meaning that the DEP boundaries move?)

Hi GoddersUK,

I'm sorry, GoddersUK, but flat screen monitors are NOT under any circumstances good for your eyes. My opinion was formed from reading/studying the opinions of Medical Doctors - Eye Doctors. Eye Doctors wanted to know WHY so many children now, like never before, need glasses at such a young age. The curvature of the screen is NOT the issue. The problem which will cause any persons eyesight to get increasingly worse and worse, is the HIGH RESOLUTION(s) of flat screen monitors.

Flat screen just means a monitor where the screen has no curvature. Screen resolution has nothing to do with the curvature of the screen.

You can get very high res CRTs just as you can get low res flat panel/tft displays. The thing that could be bad for your eyesight is having a too high resolution or a too curved screen. Or, far more likely, just spending too long staring at the screens full stop.

Anyway, enough of this - it's completely off topic tongue.gif
