Good Evening,

My laptop has several viruses. One of them replaced my wallpaper with an image that says WARNING blinking in red and yellow. Underneath that it says:

Dangerous Spyware
Many viruses were found on your computer such as "Trojan horse, PAssCApture, etc. Your personal information can fall into in the "third hands". Please check up the computer with a special software. Thank

There is also an icon in the icon tray near the clock that looks like a red circle with a white X in it that says:

Warning! Security report
Your computer is infected! IT is recommended to start spyware cleaner tool

Anytime I try to open my internet browser, it routes me to www.comodo.com or some bogus spyware cleaner website. Pop ups come up left and right.

When I tried to install Spyboy search and destroy, 24 warning boxes open that says Exception EInvalidOP in Module SPYBOTSD162.TMP.

Any help with this would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Hi

You seem to have both McAfee and Antivir running there. Please uninstall one of these since it's recommended to have only one antivirus (and software firewall) installed in same system.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

Please continue as follows:

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
   Remember to re-enable them afterwards.
   
   
2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Uninstall Askbar and Comodo SafeSurf if not installed on purpose.


I see you have Limewire installed there. Nowadays major part of infections spreads in P2P networks. Limewire is one of the worst "pest magnets" and I recommend removing it.



Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Then post the resultant log.


Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.

Uninstall old Adobe Reader versions and get the latest one here or get Foxit Reader here. Make sure you don't install toolbar if choose Foxit Reader!

• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Please run an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner as instructed in the screenshot here. If you get a message that latest Java must be installed "enable" the Java add-ons in IE7. Do that using "manage add-ons" from the IE7 toolbar.

Hi

Shall get back to this after seeing Kaspersky report first

Hello,

The laptop does not connect to the internet. I tryed to repair the connection and it keeps saying limited connectivity, so I was not able to run Kaspersky Online Scanner. I have been using my other laptop and USB stick to transfer downloads and logs back and forth.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.


Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If the connection still has problems then please download and run (use fix -button in program)WinSock XP Fix.

Internet still does not work after using CFScript in ComboFix. I tried running WinsockxpFix and that did not fix it. I try repairing the connection and it's stuck in "Renwing your IP address".

Now wireless connection is connected, but when I try opening my interner browser, I receive a DNS Error. Cannot find server and page cannot be displayed.

Hi,

Is wireless your main connection type? Assuming that you connect thru a router is there any other system connecting thru it? Have you checked networking settings of problematic system?

Then post the resultant log & a fresh hjt log.


Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

My other laptop connects to the wireless router with no problem. The one with the issues use to be able to as well. I checked the router, restarted it, and restarted the laptop with no success. I reran the report.
