Hi,

I installed Ad-Aware SE yesterday and since then am regularly getting pop-ups from Ad-Watch complaining about explorer.exe trying to effect changes in registry. Here's a line from the log:

MSG [2804] 2009/01/27 13:02:48: c:\windows\explorer.exe => \software\microsoft\internet explorer\desktop\components\position [Block]

I have scanned my system with Ad-Aware and three other antimalware products; other than a few tracking cookies, my system shows as clean. I've noticed that the pop-ups always appear when I login after a screensaver has locked the PC. I also run WindowBlinds. Is this a false positive caused by some sort of positional information that explorer is saving as part of the WindowBlinds set up? If it is, how can I adjust the Ad-Watch settings to stop these pop-ups?

Hello steve_in_ottawa

Thank you for reporting this. We have had this problem reported a few times before and are looking into it. To adjust Ad-Wath to ignore these changes you can turn some of it off by:

1) Open the Ad-Aware Main screen.
2) Click 'Edit Rules' under the Registry shield.
3) Choose to 'Set Access Rights' for explorer.exe by clicking the arrow on the right.
4) Change 'Internet Browser Settings' to Allow and press save.

Hope this helps.

Regards
LS Anders
