Hi!
I just uninstalled the Free v. 2008 and installed the Free Anniversary Edition.

A E scan now seems to be extremely slow?; - about 3 hrs for 3.000 files (- when I stopped further scanning)
(V. 2008 finished a full scan in about 1h 45min.)

Is this normal speed?

OS: Win XP SP3. C: NTFS; used 16,5 GB, free 16,6 GB. RAM: 1 MB.

Hello and nope
1.) leave the AE tableau on the screen or minimize it to taskbar --
don't leave the program with the red X button - this will set AE to background-mode ( AE will use only this idle resources)

Is this not the problem, let me know what other security software is installed.

I've just run:
a. Smart Scan; finished in 8,5 min.s; objects scanned; 21.063 (; identified 6 cookies).
b. Full Scan; had to stop scan manually after 4 hours 40 min.s; objects scanned; 41.000 (; no infections so far).

AE running full mode; not resident.
Spybot S&D v. 1.6.0.30; closed (Exit).
Norman Security Suite v. 7.10; real time scanning deaktivated.
Windows Defender; mode: real time protection.

Tasks; only program running is AE + 52 processes.

PC; laptop.
(Norman Security Suite, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender will complete full scans in about 1,5 hours.
Previous version Free Ad-Aware 2008 used to complete full scans in about 1,75 hours.)

LS will release an update soon which will hopefully reduce scanning times, look to the other thread you've been posting in.
