Full Version: Tried fixes, Ad-Aware still hangs

I've tried the fixes suggested in the FAQ (I deselected "Scan with archives" and I un-checked "unload unrecognized modules within scan") but it still hangs at the end of the scan, after finding more than 100 critical objects, which I cannot deal with because I can't get out of Ad-Aware except by clicking "Cancel." It's definitely hanging and not just de-compressing/unzipping files, because I let it sit there all day and still nothing happened. Any new ideas?

could you try a disk defrag and chkdisk?

thanks

Thank you for the quick response. According to my defrag program, my disk doesn't need defragging. I did run chkdsk, but Ad-Aware still hangs. Plus I have one more critical object.

if you cancel, what critical object does it show?
kldanielx
That was poorly stated (by me). After I cancel, it shows no critical objects. Before I cancel, it shows 146 critical objects. Prior to my most recent effort, it had been showing 145 critical objects.
