I didn't even get that far. I downloaded AAW anniversary edition (I had been using previous versions for years), tried to install it, and got a message "program required 257 mb of actual memory to install. Diskkeeper shows I have 16% memory available (should be plenty - Dell inspiron 2200) so I uninstalled the old AdAWARE and several other programs I no longer use and generally threw away and cleaned things up. Anniversary edition still won't install.
I tried reinstalling the old beta version I had archived and that won't install either - it comes up with a message box that 'free trial period is over' and a message box that cannot be turned off!
What is going on!

Downloaded another copy (PC Worlds download site doesn't work at all) and tried to reinstall - same result. Running stock Dell with XP. 5.6 GB real memory IS available. Still get same message box "Program requires 257 mb actual memory to install". This is disgusting and doesn't present Lavasoft in a good light!

Eh, I'm new here and probly not supposed to offer suggestions - but the people who are supposed may not be on, so I'll offere some ideas. You decide if they're any good or not, ok?

I didn't see the word boot there in either of your posts? Whenever I can't get something to work like its supposed to, I boot the machine - I think most call it rebooting but whatever.

You have 5.6 Gb of "real memory" available: I suppoe you mean Hard Drive. My 3-4 year old laptops came with small HDs too, but they were easy to replace myself, cheap to find on the web, and I only use Western Digital.

I got to wonder if your error message is referring to RAM: Random Access Memory? I hate it how they use the term memory for different things. I don't know which they meant here, but how much Ram do you have?

I'm sure the new AE is worth the replacement once one can get it installed and running right. One of my machines took to it right away while the other gave me a series of different problems, but I got them both okay now.

In case you need them, here is the link to download AE or here is a link to download AA2008 if you can't get AE to work this weekend.

Good luck...! rolleyes.gif

Hi guys,

"real memory" does mean RAM rather than space on your hard drive.

However, the tech specs say only OS + 100mb should be required. Please check the amount of RAM available. This can be done by:

Ctrl + Alt + Delete > Task Manager > Performance

According to the message box the words "physical memory" is used. Since I am not a Microsoft person, this could obviously mean physical memory in any form OTHER than 'ram disk' etc. In any event, the unused physical memory on my system is mostly the 5-6 gb on the hard drive. Ctrl+Alt+Del= Performance=253308 divided into 70mg system cache and abt 40 meg available. If this is NOT enough, then we should be warned ahead of time! This is the ONLY program I have EVER attempted to install where apparent RAM has ever been an issue.
In any event, I just downloaded and installed AAW 2008 and it runs fine (slows things down a bit - but runs well). Thanks DDon!! biggrin.gif I've learned my lesson - stay away from AAW 2008AE! mad.gif
