I did a search and seen no mention of Windows 7 64bit beta installs so I figure I'll just mention that it fails with a Windows Installer error. I cannot determine the exact error since I can't find the dmp file. I checked the Windows Script setting and its ok. Install was ran with admin privileges.

I can try and supply whatever info is needed but instructions will need to be specific since I'm jumping from XP into Win 7 with no Vista experience.

it ran fine for me on win 7 32bit, so ii'd be interested to know, where are the program files being stored?

The install file i downloaded to the default location:C:\Users\name\Downloads
Program extracts to the temp folder and attempts to install in the x86 program folder.

hmm very strange. i definitely had it working on 32bit. could you try running in compatibility mode and see if that works?

there must be some incompatibility with the 64 bit then. but LS can't really be expected to do much yet considering its still a beta OS

Not sure how it related but here is the fix...

I found this on Technet, so I take no credit.

start regedit
navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling

Solved the issue for me.

hmmm must be a windows installer issue then on 64bit but thanks for the heads up!

Yep, a problem with Win7, explained here: http://chris123nt.com/2009/01/18/sqm-clien...g-in-windows-7/

That's because it's a specific issue with Windows Installer and the CEIP in Windows 7 and does not effect Vista.

That was a response to something that turned out to be signature spam and is now gone. Please ignore it.

As it's old'n'innactive I'm gonna close this topic now.

@the OP: If you'd like it reopened please PM me or another mod.
