I was having problems with my WinXP Home system. Ran Norton A.V. scans and found no viruses, but deciced to do a clean install of Windows and wipe my system. I have purchaced Adawre 2008 Plus, L.S. Firewall, and decided to go with Helix anti virus as well.

After doing all of the Win Updates, I installed Helix. It seemed to run fine, it updated and did a full scan. Then installed L.S. Firewall, making sure to add needed items to the "Trusted Programs" list. Still, Helix seemed to run fine. Then installed AdAware 2008 and the crap hit the fan.

I got this error message from Helix:

Error detected in Anti-Virus Helix Guard.
Error message: INIT11
Error code: [ <0x00000000> <0x000003E9> ].

All my protections with Helix were disabled. So I checked Windows Event Viewer and found these two error mesages:

Still haven't heard back from email support. Usually, I at least get an auto-reply. I tried to uninstall Helix and I can't even do that now. Boy I would REALLY hate to reinstall windows again. But probably will have to since Windows can't even remove Helix in safe mode.

Is there a customer service phone number????? mad.gif

I downloaded the installation file and did a "repair" install. At least Helix is working for now, but without the updates. I am still having the same problem as ampro with Helix generating an internal error whenever I try to update it.

Contacting Lavasoft support has generated NO replys.

I will add any new info to the related topic.

Dear all,

There is a small setting you need to change in Lavasoft Personal Firewall in order for it to let the updates for Lavasoft Anti Virus Helix pass through it.

Open Lavasoft Personal Firewall, and go to "Settings > Network rules"

• Drag “update.exe” to the trusted programs ( if it is not there in the list, press the Add button and then browse to the following location : C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Lavasoft Anti-Virus Helix and add “update.exe” )

Double click on update.exe in the list

• Make sure that “Allow all activity” is selected in the general tab

• Now click on the Options tab and for content filtering option, choose “Block filtering” from the drop down list.

To save the changes click 'OK'.

Kind Regards,
Laleh -Lavasoft Support.

biggrin.gif Thank you!

The "Block Filtering" change made all the difference for me. I'm glad I was patient enough to leave things as they were until I got the quality info from support that I've come to rely on.
