Getting this message "Waiting for scanner" when doing any scan. Just seems to sit and do nothing. Any ideas as to why>

I had that problem and found spybot was stopping it, also maybe a firewall may stop it. If you turn them off and see what happens. Failing that uninstall Ad-Aware and re-install it may do the trick.
