Hello. I downloaded the free-to-use program today and ran a scan.

After an in-depth scan, I got a hit on the topic title malware.
They were actually in C:\System Volume Information\_restore{ bunch of numbers}\RP337\A0089290.exe .
Well, one was and the other was virtually similar except for different numbers.

Of course, not knowing what this is, I let adaware quarantine them both.

That was all that was found on my system and I was wondering if these were really anything to worry about.
Am I right in that these two "files" are in my winxp system restore folder, or at least were now that they've been quarantined?
Am I safe to outright delete these instead of holding onto them in quarantine?

I know that's a lot of questions but these look scary and at the same time don't, if you know what I mean.

I appreciate any advice.

Hi,

Yes the scan found the malware in a system restore folder and, if you were able to successfully quarantine, has move them to the quarantine folder where they are no longer a threat.

You are more than likely going to be safe removing these files are they were in a system restore folder, but I would keep them in quarantine until a couple of weeks - by which time you will have created new restore points.

I hope that helps,

Casey

I'll hold onto these for a while then dump them for good.

I appreciate the reply and the advice.
