Hi,

I am the Technical Product Manager of HASP SRM in the Software DRM division at Aladdin Knowledge Systems.

HASP SRM is the industry’s first and only rights management solution to enable the use of either software- or hardware-based protection keys to enforce software protection and licensing.

For some reason one of our product file (HASP SRM) is detected by Ad-Aware 2008 as a suspicious file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\hasplms.exe).
hasplms.exe is a process which our system uses for HASP SRM software.

Ad-Aware 2008 behavior (False Positive detection) with HASP SRM, effect’s our customer’s satisfaction, and harms the user experience.

We have submitted this file using Ad-Aware 2008 system a few weeks ago. However, for some reason the updates users currently receive do not contain a fix.

What should be our next steps to resolve this issue quickly?

Thanks,
Itay Segev

Hi Itay,

This issue will be investigated and if it turns out to be a false positive it will be removed as of the next definition release.
In future, this is the best place to post a false positive report.

Thanks for your report.

Happy Holidays,

Dave

Hi Dave

Because I was not able to find anywhere else in the site where to submit false positive report I used this form.
It would be helpful to users if there was some kind of reference or a form to submit such requests (maybe there is but I was not able to find it).

In any case, thank you very much and Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,
Itay

Hi Itay,

Thanks for your report. I can confirm that the file is not in the detection database, rather it was picked up by our heuristic/behavioural scanner. I have forwarded your post to the development team for their attention.

Hi Andy,

We run a few tests with Lavasoft updated configuration file. However, the file is still detected as a "suspicious file".
Do you know when should we expect to have this file "white listed" in your update?

Sincerely,
Itay

Hi Andy,

It seems that the issue was not yet fixed. Users still receives this error message. Can you please verify with the development team that this file was added to your "white list"?

Sincerely,
Itay

I think "suspicious files" are never added to the "white list". I got this answer:

To turn off suspicious file scanning make a "profile scan" and uncheck the box next to "Spyware Heuristics".

What on earth is the point of these attachments to posts if you cannot download them?

I get only errors trying to download attachments.

Forget it! I'll look for another anti-spyware application and uninstall AdAware.

Thank you all for your valuable help and replies. Not!

Goodbye !
