I have uninstalled Ad-Aware 2008 as it will not run on my Vista laptop. After doing so I now get a message on start up saying: "lsdelete program not found-skipping AUTOCHECK". If I reinstall AA 2008 the message goes away. I have tried the uninstall posts on this fourm without success to remove this message. How can I remove both AA 2008 and this start up message? Thanks

Hi,

This is a long way round to hopefully solve it, but without some serious work it might just be the easiest.

Re-install ad-aware. The go to settings > scanning > untick "remove items at start up" (or similar)

then uninstall ad-aware using Revo and choose the thorough or moderate option. Then restart your computer.

Let me know how that goes for you,

Casey

Casey, sorry that did not remove the "lsdelete program not found" message on start up. Ron

hi again,

Please click start then type msconfig and then press enter.

Please then check to see if lsdelete is shown under the startup tab. if it is then please untick it.

Casey, I have no entries in msconfig/startup for LavaSoft or Ad-Aware or anything with lsdelete. Ron

We will try, now, deleting anything left over in the registry. PLEASE NOTE: incorrectly modifying the registry can cause major problems with your computer. Only do as is instructed, however, I can take NO resposibility if you cause damage to your system, by following these steps you agree to this.

1. Open the Start Menu.
2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.
3. Click Continue for UAC prompt.
4. We'll create a back up of your current registry in case of problems and use it to restore

i) Click file > Export
ii) Choose a name (maybe before ad-aware editing) and location to save this backup and then click save
5. For All User Accounts:

i) In regedit, go to: (See screenshots below step 7)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
AND
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

6. To Delete a Startup Program -

i) In the right pane, right click on the program listed that you do not want to run at startup and click Delete. You are looking for anything related to Ad-Aware or Lavasoft. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE.
ii) Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

7. Close regedit when done.

I hope that works, let me know,

Casey, thanks for your assistance. I reapplied the steps found in the following thread: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=15029 to modify the registry by deleting the lsdelete entry. Earlier I had been looking for only one entry but I found two lsdelete entries burried in the list. Deleting both of these seem to have solved the problem and my start up is normal now. Also I believe yur earlier suggestion of running Revo helped delete many hidden items not cleared up before. Happy Holidays, Ron
