Hi:

I tried this but cannot stop the ad-aware process because its status is "starting" (in fact no options - start or stop are available to me). I began getting the 1814 error on two different machines after uploading updates this afternoon and I am pretty confident that neither (very unlikely both) machines are infected. I just think ad-aware did something to itself in the iupload process. I can't even get ad-aware off my machine... which would be a welcomed outcome at this point.

If you have any other ideas I would appreciate it.

Hi Raziel:

Thank you for your reply. I replied to a post in another forum with an answer to your question - my version is the free one.

I attempted the services.msc fix but the "status" of my ad-aware 2007 service is not listed as started nor stopped. It is listed as "starting" and as such when I right-click on it, the options of start, stop, pause, resume and restart are not available.
